JOHN V. and SUE GHINDIA MEMORIAL FUND

This competition is dedicated to John V. Ghindia (1925-2012). JVG loved college football; especially University of Michigan ('47-'49), where he played QB/Linebacker on 2 National Championship teams (3 BIG titles). The '48 Rose Bowl (beat USC 49-0), and team reunions were among his fondest memories. To JVG, Michigan was unquestionably the "Leaders and Best".

Over a disguished career spanning 40 years, JVG coached championship football, basketball, hockey, baseball and tennis at Wyandotte St Patrick and Ecorse High Schools. In honor of his teaching and coaching excellence, JVG is enshrined in 4 Michigan High School Hall of Fames:  Coaches, Catholic, Officials, and Tennis.

JVG dedicated his life to the children of Downriver Detroit. As City of Ecorse Recreation Director, he helped pioneer youth hockey in Michigan. John partnered with his amazing wife, Katherine Sue (1932-2015) for 56 years. Their children, Mary Beth, George, Suzanne, Janet, and John established the John V. and Sue Ghindia Memorial Fund to provide scholarships for outstanding young men and women pursuing their hopes and dreams.  

HOW TO PLAY

SUMMARY: Register (create account) and Make Selections for 47 games (not at once...); JVG winners determined by total points;  POINT VALUES: (Group 1) Non-Playoff Bowls  = 1 pt ea; (Group 2) Playoffs-1st Round = 3 pts ea; (Group 3) Playoffs-Quarterfinals = 4 pts; (Group 4) Playoffs-Semifinals = 5 pts; (Group 5) National Championship = 10 pts. 

STEP 1 - REGISTER:  Click "CREATE NEW ACCOUNT" on home page (left). Complete form, SUBMIT. You'll receive an email with link to create your account.  Click link, create password, log in. Click "JVG Bowl Extravaganza 2024". Click "Join League".

CHANGE PASSWORD: Click "Request new password". You'll receive an email, click link, change password.  Problem?  Contact Commissioner (George)

47 GAMES:  Group 1-Non-Playoff Bowls (36); Group 2-Playoffs-1st Round (4); Group 3-Quarterfinals (4); Group 4-Semi-Finals (2); Group 5-Championship (1).  

STEP 2 - PICK WINNERS - Initially Groups 1 & 2:  Log in, go to Navigation menu (left). Click JVG Bowl Extravaganza 2024, then "My Picks". Select your winners (per button) for each game within "Group 1" & "Group 2".  Click "SAVE". Group 1 winners = 1 pt each game,  Group 2  (Quarterfinals) winners = 3 pts each game

STEP 3 - PICK WINNERS:  "Group 3-Quarterfinals" after "1st Round" 12/21/24; then, Group 4-Semi-Finals after 1/1/25; then, Group 5-Championship 1/20/25. Enter winner and final score.  Final score is TIE-BREAKER. Enter in score boxes. Click "SAVE". Regardless of Quarters & Semifinals results, you can still score 10 points by picking National Champ (Group 5)  

DEADLINE: "Group 1" (**only 3 of 36 games**) PICKS DUE no later than Saturday, DEC. 14 at 9:00 AM EDT. Remainder of "Group 1" AND "Group 2" PICKS DUE no later than Tuesday 12/17/24 at 9:00 PM EDT. 

STEP 4 - See daily email updates for Group 3, 4 & 5 **PICK DEADLINES** covering Playoff-Quarterfinal, Semifinals, & Championship
